Danang's panorama from the new Han River Bridge
Do you know that one of the former names of Danang was Tourane ? I had not known this fact before my first visit to Danang, a city lying in the middle Vietnam, about 800 km from Hanoi. Peaceful place with beautiful long beach - that is my first impression about the city: Danang is indeed quiet and peaceful in contrast to Hanoi, whose most parts are noisy and polluted by the people mass and a plenty of Chinese motors. Another impression of mine about Danang is the romantic picture of young student girls in traditional white long skirts (A'o da`i) bicycling on streets, which rarely can be seen in Hanoi.
Teaching a one-week course in Danang, I had chances to meet many friendly and helpful people. In addition, I have acquainted with a really interesting and beautiful part of my home country. This is my luck and I have understood better a folk-speech sentence:" Ddi mo^.t nga`y dda`ng, ho.c mo^.t sa`ng kho^n". (in rough translation: if you travels a day, you will learn a lot and be wiser)
See you later, Tourane !
